She invites the listener on a musical journey through her totally unique world of sound. The daughter of a violinist and a percussionist, who develops and manufactures percussion instruments, Jasmin Kolberg grew up surrounded by hundreds of varied percussion instruments. At the age of seven she began her musical education in percussion, violin and piano. She completed her classical percussion studies at the "Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst" in Stuttgart with Professor Klaus Tresselt in 2000 with honours. Following this, she studied marimba in the solo-class of Professor Eric Sammut and Professor Fréderic Macarez at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris, as well as with the marimba soloist Leigh Howard Stevens in New York. Other important musical impulses came from master classes with Gordon Stout, Keiko Abe and Michael Burritt. Particularly the renowned percussion soloist Robyn Schulkowsky has enriched and accompanied Jasmin Kolberg's career through intensive musical collaboration over the years. Jasmin Kolberg won prizes at the "2nd World Marimba Competition" in Okaya, Japan and the scholarship competition of the "Yamaha Foundation of Europe". Currently, she is much in demand as a lecturer for master courses in European faculties of music, and as a jury member of international percussion competitions. With her sensitive musicality and poetic interpretations, she constantly inspires enthusiasm on international concert stages and at festivals in the U.S.A., Japan, South Africa and Europe. The musical spectrum of the soloist encompasses solo concertos, appearances with symphony orchestras and chamber music, as well as radio and television broadcasts. Her own compositions and arrangements for marimba and other percussion instruments complete the profile of the artist Jasmin Kolberg.
