Equal Temperament USA
Founded in 1996 by Eric and Stacey Jones, Equal Temperament is a husband and wife duo dedicated to the generation and performance of exciting new works for duo and solo percussion. Their debut CD "Parhelion", released on the Eroica Classical Label in 2000, was recorded following several commissioned works by composers Erik Santos, Jeffrey Peyton, David Jarvis and Thomas Brett.
Equal Temperament has performed numerous concerts throughout the United States in a variety of venues including symphony orchestra concerts, music festivals, and children’s concerts. In 2005, the duo performed a showcase concert featuring the music of composer Erik Santos, at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Columbus, Ohio.
Committed to music education as well as to music performance, Eric Jones is Artist/Teacher of Music and Director of Percussion Studies at Hillsdale College and Stacey Jones serves on the music faculty of Albion College, and Spring Arbor University.
The duo frequently includes clinics and master classes as part of their presentations at colleges and other institutions.
Eric Jones received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Oregon, a Masters from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and did Doctoral Studies at Michigan State University. Jones is the first place winner of the 1995 Gorell Competition.
Stacey Jones received her Bachelor of Music Degree at Michigan State University, where she continued her graduate studies. She is the winner of the National Music Teachers Association Percussion Competition, the Michigan State University Honors Concerto Competition and took second place honors in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Bradlin Concerto Competition.
