 Dewi Ellis Jones comes from Llanfairpwll and attended Ysgol David Hughes in Menai Bridge, Anglesey. He graduated with a BMus from the University of Wales, Bangor in 2001 followed by an MA degree, and has been awarded an LRSM diploma from the Royal Schools of Music.He is currently working towards a Doctorate in performance and composition, and studies with world renowned Simone Rebello and Dr Pwyll ap Sion. He has played with the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, and does much solo performance work as well as playing with several orchestras and brass bands, and has deputised for the acclaimed quartet Backbeat Percussion Ensemble. He is a tutor at the William Mathias Music Centre and teaches Percussion at the University in Bangor. In 2001 he won the Grace Williams Memorial Prize for Composition at the Urdd Festival.
