The III. International Katarzyna Mycka Marimba Academy (IKMMA) 2007 will take place again in Wroclaw. Situated in the south-west of Poland, well connected city with its strong cultural and historical background, wonderful cousine offers participants a great opportunity to socialise and make friends. Daily plans for active participants will include the possibility to receive a private lesson every day, chamber music rehearsals under supervision of IKMMA professors and several hours for individual practice.
Daily concerts – three of them for the open public (a. o. Pilharmonic Hall in Wroclaw) give a perfect opportunity to make a good experiance.for the concert life and – to make friends. It’s very important for IKMMA to introduce new marimba literature and work closly with composers. During past editions our guests were among others Anna Ignatowicz, Eckhard Kopetzki, John Thrower and Miroslaw Gasieniec. For active participants it’s strongly desired that at least three solo works for marimba be prepared, at least one of those being of a European composer. Passive participants may observe any lesson and rehearsal. During the Academy the IKMMA shop will offer participants music scores, CD’s and mallets. Professors at the 3rd IKMMA edition will be: Katarzyna Mycka – Poland, Germany Robert van Sice - USA Eric Sammut - France Jacek Wota – Poland Assistant: Shoko Sakai – Japan During two days we will host composer David Friedman, who will work individualy on his new marimba pieces. |
