Grover Pro Percussion® Announces New “Dual-Weighted” Timpani Mallets
Grover Pro Percussion, world leaders in high quality concert percussion products, announces that all Holmes Artist’s Choice™ Timpani Mallets will now come standard with both aluminum (light) and brass (heavy) weighted washers.

TM_brassAlumNutsThe interchangeable threaded washers will allow players a choice in selecting the weighting and balance of each pair of timpani mallets.  By simply interchanging the weights, timpanists can change arc stroke velocity, which in turn affects the balance and sound color produced from the mallets.

While there have been other “weight adjustable” timpani mallets in the past, none, until now, have accomplished changes in weight at the apex of the stroke arc.  By doing so, the Artist’s Choice mallets effectively help the timpanist maximize stroke velocity, thereby producing a clearer, more focused sound.

Originally designed by St. Louis Symphony Principal Timpanist Rick Holmes, Grover Pro has been manufacturing and distributing the Artist’s Choice series of mallets for many years.  “Top orchestral timpanists have helped us evaluate the prototypes”, comments Grover President & Founder Neil Grover. “They liked them so much that after they were done we had trouble getting the prototypes back!” commented Grover, who is also a well respected percussionist.
