The interchangeable threaded washers will allow players a choice in selecting the weighting and balance of each pair of timpani mallets.  By simply interchanging the weights, timpanists can change arc stroke velocity, which in turn affects the balance and sound color produced from the mallets.

While there have been other “weight adjustable” timpani mallets in the past, none, until now, have accomplished changes in weight at the apex of the stroke arc.  By doing so, the Artist’s Choice mallets effectively help the timpanist maximize stroke velocity, thereby producing a clearer, more focused sound.
